A pre-study session was held on August 5. 58 high school students from all over Niigata Prefecture came together in Niigata City.

In the morning, Mr. Ohta from Niigata Local Meteorological Office gave an informative lecture about the mechanism of earthquakes and tsunamis. Students also watched a video about the Niigata Earthquake and learned what kind of damage the tsunami caused.

In the afternoon, they made presentations about their plan for their survey and had lively discussions. Overall, they deepened knowledge about disaster prevention and raised awareness of disaster risks.
